Mindfulness

What comes to mind when we think about calming our overwhelmed minds? Yes, mindfulness. Only think about it: mindFULness. Wouldn’t mindLESSness be a better term? Thus, how can we make our minds less full? My guess, simply do less ;)!

 

Mindlessness

Now how do we do less? Easier said than done, right? I believe it starts with wanting less, and simply being happy with fewer and simpler things in life. The less we want, the less we have and the less we need, the less we worry.

 

Meditation exercises

Another way of doing less 😉 and becoming calmer in our minds is to sit still. Try these meditation exercises that we created for you:

 

  1. Count to four and slow your mind down.
  2. Use your breath to quiet the mind. 
  3. Watch your monkey mind jump around.
  4. Choose a mantra and repeat it to calm your mind. 
  5. Give your mind a task and focus on your deepest needs and wishes.
  6. What is alive in you today? Find your ‘voice’. 

 

Now how can this help? I believe that when you sit still and are not focusing on the world around you, you can actually and finally perhaps focus your attention on what is happening inside of you. Ony when you feel what is present in your body, mind and heart, can you start taking the appropiate steps.

 

Active meditations

I believe everybody can meditate. Only sometimes sitting still is not the way to do it. In that case do what I love doing myself: active meditations. This is what works for me too. I often fall asleep when I sit still. Follow my meditation tip and advice if falling asleep when sitting still happens to you too.

 

Meditation tip

Either get some sleep 😉 or go on daily walks on your own and be quiet, and just walk, walk and walk for an hour. You will notice that by the end of your walk your mind is emptier and quieter. Let your mind just wander and remember, you don’t have to make yourself useful. The whole point is to just walk!
